The Freelance path
I absolutely love freelancing. Throughout my journey, I've had the chance to work in various fields, and every time, I chose to go my own way. For example, after working as a barista, I opened my own coffee shop. When I started learning pastry arts, I didn’t join a bakery but began making custom cakes. The same happened with animation—when I entered this field, I almost immediately knew I wanted to work for myself.
I didn’t want to join a studio. I want to choose the projects and clients I work with, develop my own ideas and characters, and be fully responsible for the creative process. And you know what? Freelancing suits me perfectly, and I believe it's all thanks to my approach:
1) A Clear System: I work according to a structured process, ensuring that my clients receive the desired results, not a "pig in a poke," which can often happen with freelancers.
2) Dedication: When I take on a project, it means I’m ready to give it my all. It doesn’t matter if the project is worth $150 or $3,000 - I’ll do everything possible to deliver an outstanding result.
3) Understanding the Client: I always listen closely to my clients and study their niche, style, and target audience before suggesting references or stylistic solutions.
4) Revisions: I have a balanced approach to edits, dividing them into two categories:
* Helpful Edits: These improve my work, and I gladly implement them.
* Harmful Edits: These have a clear reason for being counterproductive, which I explain to the client in a respectful manner.
These are the key principles of my freelancing process - maybe someone will find them helpful!
P.S. I’m sharing a couple of old photos from my coffee shop and cake days. Writing this post brought back some wonderful memories. What an incredible adventure life is!
